Project 2: Blender

Updated: May 5, 2022

Alien Cactus Bunny Family or Cactunny

Cactunny 1: Benji

Cactunny 2: Jeff

Cactunny 3: Marv

Artist Statement:

A living soul

For this project I used the program Blender to sculpt three small mythical beings. Each creature is made with at least 11 separate sculpted parts. They all have individual moving bodies, arms, feet, and legs as well as eyes, ears and a nose. These creatures are meant to represent aliens that were created from (magically) combining cactuses and bunnies to create a completely new life form. Each bunny was created from cactuses that exist here on earth. Cactunny number one represents the golden ball cactus. Cactunny number two represents A blue candle cactus and Cactunny number three is based off of an angel wing cactus. These Alien bunnies however do not exist on earth but rather a planet of their own.

I wanted to portray these bunnies as a family unit with Cactunny number one serving as the youngest sibling and Cactunny number three serving as the oldest, leaving Cactunny number two to be the middle sibling. These siblings all have extremely similar features. All of the creatures have spikes coming out of the sides of their bodies to represent the cactus spines as well as fur. The Cactunny family's alien characteristics can be spotted in their abnormal number of eyes as well as ears among many other oddities. The cactus bunny family have reflective cartoon eyes as well as on body proportions to make them look more cute and cartoonist. These bunnies are very non-violent and non-threatening creatures that would be a pleasure to run across on an alien planet.
